Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says BBC journalist Alan Johnston is still alive.
The Guardian is reporting that Abbas told journalists that Palestinian intelligence sources believe the correspondent is alive.
The BBC website has an interactive map of Baghdad showing ethnic divisions and locations of serious attacks. It is one of the most graphic representations of the breakdown of Iraqi society since the March 2003 coalition invasion
